What Is Scrip?

Scrip is a gift card program that generates money for the school. Merchants allow our school to buy gift cards at a reduced rate and we sell them to you at face value.  The profit stays with the school and you have not spent any extra money.

What Types of Scrip Gift Cards Can I Purchase?

Gift cards are available for both local and national businesses. From Safeway and The Home Depot to local restaurants, gas, grocery, clothing, toy and sports stores, you’ll be able to use them at places you regularly shop.  Attached is an order form of the scrip we have on hand at the school. In the school lobby is the "scheduled order form" for ordering scrip gift cards that are available, but that we do not keep stocked.  You can also visit www.shopwithscrip.com to view a complete list of all merchants who participate in Scrip.

Can People Outside of First Christian Use Scrip?

Absolutely! We welcome you to encourage your family and friends to purchase scrip to support your FCS Scrip Goal. Please have them contact Terri Breit to link their purchases to your account.

Why Purchase Scrip?

First Christian School utilizes scrip to generate additional revenue to support the school budget.  In the 2015-2016 school year, FCS raised $68,753.00 through Scrip! Families do their regular weekly shopping with scrip gift cards and with each purchase, FCS earns rebates.

FCS requests all families to contribute a minimum of $300 in REBATES through participation in Scrip. Our scrip year runs from May 1st through April 30th.  FCS’s Scrip program is not required; however, if a family chooses not to participate, a $300.00 opt-out fee will be charged to their tuition account on May 1st.  We encourage you to take part in the scrip program - you really have nothing to lose by making the effort!

Once FCS families have achieved the $300.00 rebate goal, you have choices of what to do with rebates that exceed $300.00*

1.      Donate 100% your excess rebates to another FCS family's rebate goal.

2.      Use 50% of your excess rebates towards a tuition credit.

3.      Contribute 50% of your excess rebates as an offering to First Christian Church.

4.      Donate 100% of the excess rebates to the First Christian School General Budget.

FCS families may select a combination of choices, however, if a combination of tuition rebate and FCC offering are elected the combo may not exceed 50%.

*You must let the scrip coordinator know what you choose to do with your excess rebates in advance.

Earned Enough for a Tuition Credit?

Tuition credits are posted to your Smart Tuition account quarterly (at the end of each trimester and at the end of the scrip year).  You must notify the scrip coordinator, PRIOR to rebate posting, as to how you would like your excess rebates distributed (tuition rebate; FCC offering; donated to another FCS family) as we are unable to retroactively apply overages.

Getting Started with Scrip Gift Cards

1.       For scrip that you need NOW, stop by the school lobby and purchase out of the 'Scrip to Go Box'.

2.       For scrip that FCS doesn't stock, manually complete an order form (located in the lobby). Orders are placed weekly. Your order will be delivered to the school and we will hold it in the Scrip Box for your pickup.

3.      To view all of the scrip merchants online and shop at your leisure, you can place an order at www.shopwithscrip.com. Please contact the scrip coordinator to get your username and password. Your online order will be delivered to the school and we will hold it in the Scrip Box for your pickup.

Please note all orders dropped off or submitted via www.shopwithscrip.com should be put in the small black scrip box in the lobby, along with cash or check payment, no later than 3:15 pm each Friday. Orders are not returnable, changeable or cancellable once submitted.

Other Methods of Earning Towards Your Family Scrip Goal

In addition to buying Scrip gift cards, there are additional methods of earning towards your Scrip goal.  Please note the earnings from the methods listed below are not as profitable, but when done in conjunction with Scrip cards, they will help you achieve your goal quicker, and earn more for FCS!

1. eScrip

eScrip is a partnership between online merchants and communities such as our school. When you shop at participating merchants, they donate a percentage of your purchase back to the school and the proceeds will go towards your scrip goal. Register all phone numbers used for grocery loyalty programs, your credit and debit cards, at www.escrip.com (our school group number is 155347479). Once registered, use your debit/credit card at participating local merchants as normal.

eScrip also gives back through ONLINE Shopping Mall purchases. Once you have registered your credit cards, use eScrip website to launch into the Online Shopping Mall. There are over 1000+ stores such as Amazon, Nordstrom, Apple, Expedia, Sephora. Please note eScrip can take up to 3 months to post contributions.

2. Lucky S.H.A.R.E.S. Card

Lucky S.H.A.R.E.S. contributes 3% of qualifying purchases.  Simply register online at www.luckysupermarkets.com/shares. You must also have your phone number registered on eScrip (instructions above) as this is how Lucky’s reports earned rebates.

3. Raley's/Nob Hill Something Extra - Quality of Life Card

If you shop Raley's or Nob Hill Foods, request a Something Extra/Quality of Life card from any cashier at these stores.  Then simply register this card online at their website and link it to First Christian School.  Swipe your card or input your number at the register each time you shop at Raley's/Nob Hill, and FCS receives 3% back. In order to get credit toward your scrip profit goal you must go online to your account and print a report each quarter, and turn it in to the scrip data entry volunteer, Amy Haines.

Volunteers

If you have a few extra hours a week and are willing to volunteer your time, we would be happy to have you as part of our team. Please contact the scrip coordinator with your availability, terri@fccnapa.org.
