A Note from the Principal

I pray everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I had a fabulous two weeks with my family. Thank you all for the thoughtful Christmas gifts that you blessed me with before Christmas Break. This week is Spiritual Emphasis week and we are starting the new year off focusing on what Scriptures says about self-discipline. Mrs. VanMaren will be joining the preschool classrooms for chapel talking with the preschoolers about what self-discipline looks like in preschool. I will be meeting with the K-5th grade each day from 8:30-9:00 AM talking with the K-5th graders about what self-discipline looks like in elementary school. Adrian, our Student and Family Pastor, will be meeting with the middle school students from 10:20-11:00 AM to discuss what self-discipline looks in middle school. Please join us for Family Chapel on Wednesday at 8:30 am as we meet as a whole school.

As parents I would encourage you to do some research on the subject this week as it's a great time to start some new family routines in your home. Below you will find some great websites on the subject. Self-discipline is one of the most important things we can teach our kids, especially since we live in a time when instant isn't fast enough. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline". Learning self-discipline helps with combating the age of entitlement, reduces rage and outbursts in children, and teaches healthy routines for a balanced life body, mind, and spirit.
