Goal of the Admission Process

The goal of the admission process at First Christian School is to enroll those students who are most likely to thrive in our school environment, and whose families embrace the mission and values of our school. We aim to provide prospective families with complete and accurate information about our community, programs and expectations.

Admission Timeline

We are currently accepting applications for the 2016-2017 academic year, as well as select enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year for classes with available space.

Transfer Applicants

We consider transfer applications throughout the school year, on a space-available basis.

Kindergarten Age Requirement

The applicant must be five-years-old on or before September 1st of the school year.

Campus Visits

All prospective families must complete a formal orientation of First Christian School scheduled through the Admissions Office. This can be done by attending an Admissions Open House and/or a scheduled campus tour. A campus tour will likely last between 30-45 minutes.

Shadowing Visits for Students

Students entering Grades 4-8 are invited to shadow for a half day or full day with current FCS students. Shadowing gives the student and family great insight into what daily FCS life is like. This step in the admissions process is optional.


Once the student’s completed application paperwork is submitted, an assessment will be scheduled for the student. The assessment is conducted by the current grade teacher. Assessment results help us gauge strengths, as well as areas of improvement for all incoming and transferring students. Tests are approximately one hour in length. Prospective Middle School students are required to take a Language Arts and a Mathematics assessment. Prospective families will be contacted with assessment results within one week of completed assessment.

Parent/Administrator Meeting OR Parent/Student Meeting

The final step in the Admissions process is to complete a Parent/Administrator Meeting (for prospective K-5th grade students) or a Parent/Student Meeting (for prospective 6-8th grade students).

Application Requirements

  • Receipt of $250.00 registration fee for new students and $175.00 for returning students
  • Receipt of completed enrollment forms
  • Completed assessment
  • A copy of previous school records/transcripts

Open Enrollment & Wait List

FCS will begin Open Enrollment (enrollment of prospective families not currently enrolled at FCS) on March 1st. At this time, First Christian School will open up any available spots to our wait list applicants. Wait list families will have two weeks (until March 15th), to submit their registration fee and enrollment paperwork. After this time, any remaining spots will be made available to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested in submitting an application form for enrollment, please submit the application form and non-refundable $50.00 application fee. Upon the receipt of these two items, your child will be placed on our wait list.

Admission Policy

It is the policy of First Christian School, a ministry of First Christian Church of Napa, not to discriminate on the basis of the applicant’s race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin. We reserve the right to select students on the basis of academic performance, religious commitment, and personal qualifications, including a willingness to cooperate with the staff and administration of First Christian School.

Students seeking admission will be evaluated on the basis of their transcripts, admission questionnaire, interview, and their ability to perform satisfactorily at First Christian School. Students with less than a “C” average in their academic subjects may have difficulty attaining a satisfactory level of academic achievement. FCS strives to meet all children’s educational needs. However, we are limited in outside support for children with special learning needs. It is the intention of FCS to work with each student on an individual basis to meet their educational needs. However, a complete partnership between home and school is required for every student’s success.

The student must have a sincere desire to attend First Christian School and be willing to submit to all the standards and regulations of the school. The student must be respectful to his/her peers, staff, and faculty.

Attendance at First Christian School is a privilege, not a right. No student will be admitted directly following suspension or expulsion from another school. Students will strive to do their best in all areas. First Christian School is not a refuge for students who will not cooperate, have had previous behavioral problems in other schools, or who will not apply themselves to the best of their academic abilities. All new students will be subject to a one month probationary period for academic and behavioral evaluation.
